Amplitude integration

Amplitude can be connected to Agen.co two ways, matching the Official / In-house filter in the connector picker:

  • Official — Agen.co connects through Amplitude's own hosted MCP server, so your AI agents use the same analytics, experimentation, and taxonomy tools available in the Amplitude product itself.
  • In-house — Agen.co wraps Amplitude's Dashboard REST, Cohorts, and Taxonomy APIs directly through its own integration layer, authenticating with a project API Key and Secret Key pair.

Pick Official if Amplitude's MCP server covers what you need — it requires no API Key/Secret Key management and stays in sync with whatever tools Amplitude adds to its MCP server over time. Fall back to In-house if you need an API surface Amplitude's MCP server doesn't expose yet.

Connect via the official MCP server

Prerequisites

  • An active Amplitude account with access to the project(s) you want your agents to query
  • Knowledge of which data residency region your Amplitude organization uses (US or EU) — check with your Amplitude admin if you're not sure
  1. In the Agen.co portal, go to Connectors → My connectors and click Add connector.
  2. In the search bar, type Amplitude and select it from the results.
  3. Fill in the fields:
FieldRequiredDescription
Instance SlugNoDistinguishes multiple instances of this MCP connector — it prefixes each imported tool as slug__tool. Use lowercase kebab-case; leave empty for a single instance. This value is immutable after creation.
Amplitude regionYesSelects which of Amplitude's two regional MCP servers Agen.co connects to. Use mcp if your Amplitude organization stores data in the US (the default, connecting to mcp.amplitude.com). Use the EU option if your organization has EU data residency (connecting to mcp.eu.amplitude.com) — confirm with your Amplitude admin which region your organization is on before connecting.
  1. Click Connect.

You're redirected to Amplitude to sign in and approve access — Amplitude's MCP server uses OAuth 2.0, so no Client ID, Client Secret, or API key needs to be entered manually.

Once connected, Amplitude appears under My connectors with tools spanning:

AreaWhat it covers
Analytics & visualizationQuerying charts and dashboards, creating charts from natural language, building dashboards, and working with notebooks
Data managementSearching events and properties, querying cohorts and segments, accessing and creating metrics, managing taxonomy (events, properties, transformations, group types)
ExperimentationCreating and monitoring A/B tests, analyzing experiment results, managing feature flags and guardrail metrics
User intelligenceAd-hoc segmentation, funnel and retention analysis, comparing user journeys
Debugging & monitoringQuerying session replays, identifying friction patterns, auditing UX flows, tracking error data
Content & feedbackGuides, surveys, and customer feedback analysis
GovernanceTracking plan branches, event definitions, user properties, and data quality validation
AI agent analyticsMonitoring agent performance, user topics and questions, and session failure investigation

Enabling the Amplitude connector isn't enough on its own. Tool calls remain denied until you create a policy that grants access to the specific tools you want to expose.

Connect via the Amplitude API

Amplitude is a product analytics platform for understanding user behavior, building funnels and cohorts, and measuring retention. Integrating Amplitude with Frontegg lets your application run event segmentation, funnel and retention analysis, query active and new user counts, manage cohorts and annotations, and read taxonomy (event types and user properties) on behalf of your users — all through Frontegg's integration layer. Amplitude's Dashboard REST, Cohorts, and Taxonomy APIs authenticate with a project API Key and Secret Key pair sent as HTTP Basic authentication, so there is no OAuth flow.

Prerequisites

  • An Amplitude account
  • Access to the project whose data you want to query, with permission to view project settings

Connect Amplitude

Each Amplitude project has its own API Key and Secret Key. Both values live on the project's settings page and together authorize API access to that project's data.

Step 1: Open your project settings

Sign in to Amplitude and open Settings → Projects. Select the project you want to connect from the list.

Step 2: Copy the API Key and Secret Key

On the project's General tab, locate the API Key and Secret Key fields. Copy both values.

Keep your Secret Key safe

The Secret Key grants full API access to the project's data. Treat it like a password and never expose it in client-side code.

Configure the Frontegg portal

Once you have your project's API Key and Secret Key, configure the integration in the Frontegg portal:

  1. Open the Frontegg portal and navigate to [ENVIRONMENT] → Integrations → Amplitude.
  2. In API Key, enter the project API Key.
  3. In Secret Key, enter the project Secret Key.
  4. Click Save.

Data residency

This integration targets Amplitude's US data center (amplitude.com). If your project is hosted in Amplitude's EU data center, contact Frontegg support before connecting.

Keep your credentials secure

Never share or commit your Secret Key to version control.
